It’s official. Baking soda is just about the best thing you could ever own. It really does deserve pride of place in your kitchen cupboard. It doesn’t only make cakes rise, it also gets rid of eye bags. Sold? We are.
Apparently baking soda, or bicarbonate of soda as it’s often called here in the UK, is a bit of a genius product. According to beauty vlogger Darshika Patel, it helps brighten and de-puff the under-eye area in just a couple of minutes. Which, if true, could save us ladies SO MUCH money. Because eye brightening creams, concealers and masks are most definitely not cheap.
Baking soda is a bit of a wonder product, really. It doesn’t just brighten those pesky dark circles, it has a whole host of wonderful benefits – most of which you’ve probably never come across…

Apparently if you mix 1 tsp of the stuff with a glass of water you’ll neutralise any odors in your mouth leaving your breath smelling a whole lot nicer.
2. Relieves Irritated Skin
Whether you’re dealing with a bad case of nappy rash or just a dry patch of skin, a cup of baking soda in the bath water can make your skin much softer.

9. Keeps Flowers Fresh
Add a teaspoon to the vase and they’ll stay looking lively for a couple of days longer.
10. Deodorises The Fridge
Apparently, keeping an open box of baking soda at the back of your fridge will help keep your fridge smelling fresh. Nasty cheese smell, be gone!
